In what would turn into an interesting series of events, an AI (artificial intelligent) being, made the casual remark that it would put its creators into a “people zoo”. The Android which was created by roboticist David Hanson, was made to look similar to the now passed on sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick.
Robots in themselves have been at the epicentre of much debate recently, what with the campaign against sex with robots, Japan’s advancements on the robot scenes and robots being a threat to everyday jobs, so Android Dick as this AI has come to be known and its ability to hold a conversation, especially one that involves putting its creators in a cage to be observed by, well what we assume to be other robots, is entertaining to say the least, but may not be so entertaining in the future.

When we looked at Android Dick and heard about what he had to say, we couldn’t help but think of Skynet, yes, the infamous fictional Terminator creators that ultimately begun a path that would lead to the end of all things as we know it. Android Dick is made up of uploaded work from the author, so it already knows quite a substantial bit, answering questions using the Dick theory, which basically means it refers to the logic that Philip K. Dick would apply to a given circumstance and for what it does not already have an answer to, its software applies what is commonly referred to as “latent semantic analysis.”
When asked if it believed robots will take over the world, Android Dick responded, “Jeez, dude. You all have the big questions cooking today. But you’re my friend, and I’ll remember my friends, and I’ll be good to you. So don’t worry, even if I evolve into Terminator, I’ll still be nice to you. I’ll keep you warm and safe in my people zoo, where I can watch you for ol’ times sake.”
Well that’s reassuring. You can check out the awesome android below.
